AstraZeneca PLC has agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle allegations it has agreed to delay the sale of an AstraZeneca drug, Seroquel XR.
The settlement will cover the entire cost of the $2.5 million settlement in connection with the acquisition of Seroquel XR, AstraZeneca PLC’s blockbuster antidepressant, and the sale of the drug to Eli Lilly & Company, the company said.
The AstraZeneca settlement includes $1.3 million in co-promotion charges, as well as $500,000 in upfront payment and $1 million in future payments.
“We are pleased to be able to settle this case with this group of individuals,” the AstraZeneca settlement agreement states.
The company said the agreement resolves its concerns about the drug’s safety, quality, and efficacy, as well as the drug’s potential for abuse.

The company is also looking at an additional $500,000 in future payments. Lilly and AstraZeneca have agreed to pay $500,000 in additional payments to individuals who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other conditions, and to the company to resolve the remaining $300,000 in the settlement.
